We had a great time supporting Arrupe College's Cultural and Diversity Expression Festival.  Principle dancers Cate Wood and Luis Santillian put on a fine performance and gave an exciting lesson that got the students super pumped.  Arrupe College is extremely diverse with a very large Latinx, African American and international student population. We were happy to share Latin dance–a dance whose origins is just as diverse as the students who participated in the event. Plus Cate and Luis got to take a picture with the dean! How often does that happen on a salsa gig

Las Vegas Salsa Bachata Super Congress

This is overdue, but we would like to say a big thank you to Nate Strager and the producers of the Las Vegas Salsa Bachat Super Congress.  For the second year running, Inspiración Dancers participated in the Salsa Showdown with dancers Cate Wood, Chris Manning, Julie Gerenrot, Marissa Moritz and Sam Mourad participating on the Tropical Gem International Team and dancer Svitlana Selska participating on the Karel Flores and Marco Ferrigno International Team.  The showdowns involve 20+ hours of training to learn a new choreography performed on the final night of the congress and participating in the showdown amounts to an intensive training session that helped all of the dancers grow immeasurably.

In addition, Inspiracion dancers Luis Santillian and Olena Jay took third place in the salsa couples cabaret division and Inspiración dancers Chris Manning, Julie Gerenrot, Marissa Moritz, and Sam Mourad took third place in the salsa teams division.

The Las Vegas Salsa Bachata Super Congress is an awesome event–well organized with some of the world's top dancers and in one of the world's most entertaining cities.  Next year we are looking to put together a fusion of contemporary, hip-hop, and Latin dance for the mega-team showdown. Be on the lookout for audtions for this new IDC piece!

A Week to Go!

IDC dancer Marissa Moritz with the Senn Arts Freshman Dancers
IDC dancer Chris Manning with the "Arrupe on the Beat" dancers

We are just one week out from the fourth Annual Inspiracion Gala!  It is going to be a great night with dinner, open bar, a dance lesson, silent auction, and performances from all of our teams. This year we will have more youth performers in the gala than ever before–with 17 dancers from our programs at Senn High School and Arrupe College.

It is important to us that all of our youth performers have supporters there on the big night.  We've gotten a lot of help from you so far, but we are still short by 12 tickets. So we are issuing a challenge to all of you who support youth in the arts. We have a goal of twelve $50 student family ticket donations today.   Just click this link and write "student family ticket" in the instructions box.  If you would like to help but are not comfortable with the $50 donation level, please give at a level that works for you. Every bit of your generosity helps!

Inspiración Gala Emcee Ray McElroy

Ray McCelroy dancing with Cate Wood in the Ray of Stars Celebrity Benefit

We are extremely happy to announce that the emcee for the Fourth Annual Inspiración Gala will be Ray McElroy.  Ray is a former Chicago Bear who has done great work through his organization, A Ray of Hope on Earth, which organizes youth football camps, life-plan coaching for professional athletes, and a wide array of community programs.

We first met Ray in 2015 when he competed with IDC principal dancer Cate Wood in the 2015 Ray of Stars Celebrity Dancing benefit. In addition to the fact that he turned out to be quite the dancer, it was apparent that Ray is a charismatic speaker with a real passion to help the community.  We can't wait to see the great energy he will bring to the event!

It's going to be a great night of dinner, dancing, and performances.  Click here to get your tickets now!

Support our Student Dancers!

This year we are very  excited to have two of our youth teams performing at the Inspiración Fourth Annual Gala!  We'd like to introduce you to our new group from Arrupe College: "Arrupe on the Beat." Arrupe College is a two year institution for students with limited financial resoures and this was our first semester of working with their dance group.  The Arrupe on the Beat dancers will be debuting a new piece at our gala choreographed by IDC principle dancer, Cate Wood.

We would like these students to have their families be able support them at the event without causing them any financial hardship. Please help us with this by making a $50 donation to provide a ticket for a family member of one of our student dancers.  Just click this link and write "student family ticket" in the instructions box.

Thank you for your support!
